Pin Up Girl Party Inspiration

My Retro Pin-Up Girl Themed lingerie shower was a success! Here's a little inspiration to throw your own pin up style party. It can be a lingerie shower, bachelorette party, or just a ladies night out.

I love cute invites, notes, cocktail napkins and paper plates when you don't feel like doing a million dishes. Since I was short on budget, I created my own invite using a Gil Elvgren image and just added wording to it. You can print these out and use scrapbooking paper or card stock to create a border, or just send it in an email.

For fill in invites and also cocktail napkins, paper plates, and even favors I love Anne Taintor, Inc. They use images of women from ads in the 50's and 60's and then add cheeky sayings to them. (Okay, so it's not very pin up girl, but it's too cute - no one will notice.) They've got something for every occasion, but for this party here were some of my favorites:

If you've got a little extra in the budget - check out their flasks, compacts, and even aprons and potholders (good for a kitchen themed shower)!

More on favors...

Pin-up girls are all about glam so why not give away some dramatic false eyelashes and lip gloss! I found these at e.l.f. (eyes, lips, face) where everything is $1. I've used the products before and they're great! The retro candy tin lip glosses were perfect, and who could resist their Cherry Bomb flavor? I found red satin wristlets in Target's $1 bins that were perfect to hold the favors.

For more ideas, check out http://www.pinupgirlclothing.com/. I like their pin up hair flowers and vintage tin ID cases. If you're feeling crafty, try making your own silk flower hair pins to pass out at the party.

Feeling a little more dangerous? Hire someone to teach you and your gal pals how to strip in your own home or host an adult toy party (It's like a tupperware party, but with, you know...adult toys!). Give out some funky tassels as party favors and don't forget the martinis!

Pin-Up Girl Party

My Pin-Up girl themed lingerie party is this Thursday! Aaack! I sometimes forget how being a Mommy makes everything take 10x longer to finish. I have trouble cleaning during the day when Marisa is awake, so most things have to get done at night. I'm so excited though, I can't wait. I'm making Champage Punch. I made it for another party but unfortunately was 9 months pregnant and couldn't try it. It was a huge hit though so I'm thrilled I have another occasion to make it. If you've got any holiday parties coming up, here's the recipe (courtesy of Epicurious.com):

Servings: Makes about 16 cups, serving 12.

Ingredients
1 cup Triple Sec
1 cup brandy
1/2 cup Chambord
2 cups unsweetened pineapple juice
1 quart chilled ginger ale
2 chilled 750-ml. bottles dry champagne

Preparation

In a bowl combine the Triple Sec, the brandy, the Chambord and the pineapple juice and chill the mixture, covered, for at least 4 hours or overnight. In a large punch bowl combine the Triple Sec mixture, the ginger ale, and the champagne and add ice cubes.

Enjoy! Check back after Thursday to see how the lingerie shower went, and for more ideas and inspiration on throwing your own pin-up girl party.

Tattoo You

Love Ooh La La Mama’s tattoo inspired designs? Then you’ll love Kat Von D's new cosmetics line! I’m totally lusting after the painted love lipstick and autograph eyeliner. I was always too scared/indecisive to get a tattoo, but I can play with makeup for days. I stumbled across it because I’m planning a lingerie shower for a friend of mine and it’s going to have a rocker/pin up girl theme. I remembered the opening credits of Kat Von D’s show La Ink was done pin up style, so I started watching the latest season and heard her line was launching at Sephora! The packaging is super cool and features Kat’s favorite rose tattoo. I’m thinking up some fun games to give away some makeup as a prize. Stay tuned for more details on my Lingerie pin-up girl party!
